Wayne Elert Lyngen "Norski"

1939 - 2025

Wayne E. Lyngen, 86, of Albuquerque, N.M., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2025. Wayne was born on Dec. 20, 1939 in Sisseton, S.D., to John and Marguerite (Halseide) Lyngen. The family moved to Albuquerque in 1952.

He is survived by his wife, the love of his life for 64 years, Virlene A. (Truby) Lyngen, three children; Kelli (Randy) Gilmore, Kenneth Lyngen, and Kimberly (Mark) Parish, one sister; Joanne Sehen, two brothers; Dale Lyngen and John Lyngen, three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, all of whom were the lights of his life.

He was predeceased by his parents; his brothers Merville and Roger Lyngen, a sister Diane Lyngen and a great-grandchild.

Wayne spent his life in the construction industry, becoming Superintendent for many prominent projects around N.M. until he retired. He was proud of his many professional accomplishments. A drive anywhere in N.M. with Wayne would be a history lesson in architecture; with him saying "I built that building".

A Celebration of Life will take place at the Lyngen residence on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2026 from 2:00pm to 6:00pm
