Virginia Atencio was born July 31, 1941 in Seboyeta, New Mexico. She passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 24, 2025.
She will be remembered as a loving person who enjoyed going to the casino and spending time with her family.
Virginia was a longtime and devoted member of Holy Family Catholic Church and she worked for the Albuquerque public Schools, retiring after 25 years of dedicated service. Virginia was loved and will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Atencio; her daughter, Sandy Cordova; sons, Randy, David and Gary Atencio, and by her beloved Lorenzo Sedillo and son-in-law, Martin Cordova.
Virginia is survived by her grandchildren, Joseph "Randy, Analy, Milton, Anthony, Gary Jr., Brianna, Savannah, Amadeo, Anna and Rick; brother-in-law, Perfecto Sedillo; daughter-in-law, Lydia Atencio; as well as other family members and friends who will mourn her passing.
A Rosary will be recited at the family home, 1104 Pear Dr. SW. on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at 10:30 am. A Potluck Fellowship will follow at the Zapata Club, 2723 Isleta Blvd. SW.
She will be laid to rest with her late husband, Gilbert, at the Santa Fe National Cemetery on Monday, June 9, 2025 at 1:00 pm.
