On Thursday, August 21, 2025. Our Lord and Savior called his daughter, Viola Sanchez, 82, to her Eternal Rest.  Viola was preceded in death by her husband, Maurilio of 53 years. Viola's only grandchild, Matthew Sanchez and most recently, her nephew, Ruben Ramirez. Viola was the last surviving member of the family of Henry and Elena Hernandez.

Viola leaves behind her loving and devoted children Joseph Sanchez and Dolores Sanchez-Mirabal and Son-in-Law Darren Mirabal; her precious Shih Tzu- companion Lilly;  niece who was just like a sister, Juanita Ramirez; Goddaughters Rosanna De La Riva, Pauline Baca &  husband John,  Josephine Martinez, and Debbie Trussell; her only surviving Godson John Garcia;  as well as several nieces, nephews, numerous Great nieces and nephews.

Viola was loved by all.  She had a compassionate, generous heart and loved her family fiercely. Viola had a smile that could brighten your day.  She looked as sweet as could be but was tough and determined. Amid life's trials, she seemed to always bounce back.  She definitely leaves a huge mark on the lives of those who were blessed to love and be loved by her. Viola will be missed dearly.

Some of Viola's interests through the years were being with family and friends, volleyball, her numerous dogs and Gran-dogs, ironing, going for walks, camping, being there for any school events for her children, being a Godmother, which she took very seriously, as she was devoted, loving and generous to them.  When Viola became a Grandma, Matthew became her world and the two of them were as close as could be.  She then attended all his games, practices, school functions and shopping for him was her new activity.  Most recently,  Viola enjoyed getting out to doctor appointments, where she was often told just how "sweet and cute" she was. She enjoyed attending family functions, where days prior much of the family was unknowingly blessed by being able to see her one last time.

Viola was a member of several Catholic Churches throughout her life, she had a strong faith and relied on it deeply.  We believe that her faith blessed us with precious time with Viola, which we realize could never be enough.

Her children are so grateful to her many doctors and the staff at UNMH and SRMC who took such great care of their mother over the years, thank you!  To our family and friends we also thank you for your love, support and prayers, we are so appreciative.

Viewing will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 from 6-7:00 pm with a Rosary to be recited by Deacon Steve at 7:00 p.m.  Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 5311 Phoenix Ave. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110.   Funeral Mass for Viola will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 4, 2025 also at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church with Father Simeon Wimmershoff presiding and he will be assisted by Deacon Larry.  Burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd., Albuquerque, NM 87107.

Pallbearers will be Steve Ramirez, Jacob Montoya, Richard Baca, John Baca, Henry Ramirez and Andrew Ramirez.
