Obituary

Van Rocco Jr, a free spirted and loving man, passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2025. He is preceded in death by his mother, Patsy Rocco and by his brothers, David and Patrick.

Van Jr is survived by his father, Van; his brothers, Anthony (Dianna), Michael (Alicia); several nieces and nephews, Joshua, Dominic, Jared, Ciera, Vanessa, Andrew, Luke, Emma, Kate, Jacob, Nathan, and numerous loving cousins and friends.

Born on September 13, 1967, Van grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico and graduated from Valley High School. He proudly and honorably served in the United States Navy, where he was stationed aboard the USS John F. Kennedy during Operation Desert Storm. Upon returning home, Van utilized the GI Bill to pursue a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from the University of New Mexico.

Van dedicated his career to the justice system, working in both Albuquerque and Los Lunas. After retiring from the State of New Mexico as a Probation Officer, he chose to return to work, motivated by his desire to continue supporting the justice system.

Van Jr. will be remembered for his strong Catholic Faith. His involvement with Saint Vincent De Paul and volunteered time at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

He loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending his time fishing in Chama, New Mexico. An avid fan of horse racing, he also enjoyed watching the LA Dodgers and LA Rams play.

He will be remembered for his playful sense of humor and his strong, distinct voice. Van was like a second father to his brother Patrick's three sons and was always loyal to his friends.

He will be deeply missed.

Funeral services will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on Wednesday, February 26, 2025. The Rosary will begin at 10:30 am, followed by Funeral Mass at 11:00 am. Van Jr. will be laid to rest with honors at the Santa Fe National Cemetery on Thursday, February 27, 2025 at 12:30 pm with US Navy Honors.
