Obituary

Tommy Wilson Sr. was born September 23, 1946 in Cameron, Texas to Merrit Thomas, Thelma Lee Staton and Alfred Wilson. He passed on to his heavenly home, peacefully, on Saturday, February 14, 2026.

Above all, Tommy was a devoted and faithful follower of God who believed in raising his family with these same values and beliefs.

Tommy will always be fondly remembered as a dedicated and loving father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather and loyal friend. He was an avid sports fan and thoroughly loved watching all kinds of sports and drinking his black coffee while eating a honey bun! Above all sports, Tommy was die-hard Dallas Cowboy fan and never lost hope in his team, always saying "next year!"

He was a wonderful and loving man who will be greatly missed.

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Merrit and Thelma Staton and Alfred Wilson; five siblings, Merrit Staton Jr., Charlie Wilson, Fred Wilson, Bertha Staton and Ralph Wilson; by his beloved grandson, Asa Webb and by his nephew, Billy Joe Green.

He is survived by his 4 children, Tommy Wilson Jr and wife Monica, Diana Yonker and husband Joshua, Jocelyn Cordero and husband Manuel, Michael Wilson and wife Ashley and Mona Lisa of North Carolina; two sisters, Jonell Thomas and husband George and Brenda Nelson; one brother, Marvin Wilson and wife Dorothy; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; as well as many other nieces, nephews, cousins other treasured family and many friends who loved him greatly and will mourn his passing.

Services will be held at Faith Tabernacle Church, 7701 Zuni Rd. SE., on Friday, February 27, 2026. The viewing and visitation will begin at 1:30 pm. The funeral service will begin at 3:00 pm. A private family interment will take place in the Family Plot at the Sweetwater Cemetery in Sweetwater, Texas, at a later date. Pallbearers will be Richard Wilson, Robert Wilson, Angelo Wilson, Antonio Griego, Michael Berry and Marcus Wilson. Honorary pallbearers will be William Vaughn, Josiah Wilson, Jacoby Wilson, Asa Webb, Fredrick Wilson and Billy Joe Green
