Terry Lopez lived an incredibly joyous and adventurous life. He went to be with the Lord on October 31, 2022, at the age of 71. He was surrounded by many loving family members as he passed away peacefully.

Born Terrence "Terry" Rodney Lopez to Emma and Manuel Lopez in Embudo, NM, Terry was the oldest of five siblings. He grew up in the apple orchards of Velarde, NM.

Terry was as charming as he was rebellious, charting his own path from an early age. He was an amateur boxer in Los Angeles in his younger years, then returned to New Mexico and became an intrepid entrepreneur, homebuilder, real estate developer, and master of finding a "really good deal."

Terry leaves behind a legacy through his seven children: Corinne, Linda, Yolanda, Nick, Sarah, Eric, and Tanya. In addition, he has 15 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He also leaves behind his siblings Manuel (and wife Peppy), Mike (and wife Annabelle), and Carol Lopez, significant other Vera Baca, and many friends and extended family. He is preceeded in death by his loving wife Suzie, his sister Wanda Martinez, his parents Manuel and Emma Lopez, and his grandparents Eloisa and Silviano Romero.

Terry could most often be found fishing and appreciating nature in northern New Mexico. He was quick to shake hands with a stanger, introducing himself and in turn making friends easily. He soaked in all life had to offer. He had a fond love of animals, plants, fruit trees, and gardening. Terry also enjoyed sharing a good meal of green chile stew, king crab legs, and posole while at home with friends and family. In addition to exploring domestically, he also enjoyed adventures that took him abroad and throughout Mexico and Central America. While out on adventures, he preferred taking the back roads, seeking out the locals for the best experience.

Terry's infectious smile, energy, and creativity will be missed deeply.

The memorial and celebration of life will be held Sunday, Nov.  20, 2022, 12-4 p.m. at the Hernandez Community Center, Hernandez, NM.

Additionally, church services will be held Nov. 19, 2022, 5 p.m. at Holy Ghost and Fire Ministry Fellowship Church, 156 Caldwell Ave., Belen, NM .
