Susan Kay Roberts

1955 - 2026

Susan Kay Roberts was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on February 17, 1955 to parents Doyle Talmadge Poff and Pina Mae Poff (Hamilton). This strong-willed, loving woman put up a strong fight against cancer, was surrounded by family and friends in that fight, but peacefully lost that battle on June 22, 2026 at 71 years young.

Susan was married to John Brynley Roberts April 29, 2006 and resided in Edgewood, New Mexico where they raised horses, cows, chickens, and dogs. She loved her animals and living this lifestyle. Her animals gave her so much joy and she spoiled all of them.

Susan was a beloved licensed massage therapist. She first earned her Massage Therapy certification with a 3.6 GPA from the Universal Therapeutic Massage Institute Inc in Albuquerque, NM on April 11, 2017, and was licensed to practice in the State of NM on May 1, 2017. She continued her massage education by becoming a Certified Neuro Muscular Therapist with certification through The Neuromuscular Therapy Center of New Mexico on February 22, 2022. She did not stop there and became a Certified Medical Massage Practitioner through the LMT Success Group in Dallas, Texas in April 2023. For more than 8 years, her healing hands helped many people recover and she extended that healing to horses and other animals. She loved the work she performed and everyone who came to her loved her.

Susan loved living life to its fullest. She loved going on road trips, camping, horseback riding, and many other adventures. She loved scrapbooking, gardening, shooting at the range, baking, and cooking, and she was great at all of it! She loved her Lord and showed that love to everyone she met. She cared deeply for people, especially her family, whom she loved with all her heart.

Susan is survived by her husband, John Brynley Roberts, her son, Seth Jason DeMar and his wife, Merry Larae Tidwell, and their children, Keeley Morgan Tidwell and Aizlin Brielle Tidwell, her daughter, Leah Rebecca DeMar, her sister, Cathy Smith and her husband, Harold Smith, and their children (nephew and niece), Gordon Smith and family, and Lizzie Wenrich and family, and niece Kay Snyder and her family and several other extended family members. Susan is also survived by Judy Gale Crawford Long, who was a niece, but was raised alongside Susan and her sisters, and was viewed as another sister, due to their closeness in age and upbringing.

Susan is preceded in death by her parents, Doyle Talmadge Poff and Pina Mae Poff (Hamilton); her sister, Vicky Lou Frazee (Poff) and by her half-sister, Joan McBee.

There will be a service and reception held at the church where Susan Kay Roberts worshiped her Lord, at Legacy Church at 379 NM 344 in Edgewood, NM on Monday, July 13, 2026, beginning at 10:00 am. All who loved her or were touched in their lives by her is welcome to attend. Attendees are encouraged to wear one of Susan's favorites (something purple, something with butterflies and/or daisies, or cowboy dress attire).

In lieu of flowers, the family would suggest making a donation on Susan Kay Roberts' behalf to one of her favorite causes at the New Mexico Horse Rescue at Walkin N Circles Ranch (WNCR) in Stanley, NM.
