Steve D. Mumbower was born on February 17, 1956 in Albuquerque. He passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, July 30, 2025. He is survived by Christine Mumbower, his wife of thirty-three years. Their surviving blended family includes Steve's son, Jeremiah Mumbower and daughter Sandy (Magnolia) Deerman and Christine's sons Keith Johnson, Scott Johnson and Brian Johnson and their respective spouses; Steve's brothers, Dr. Ron Mumbower and Kelly Mumbower and their spouses and Steve's cousin Scot Lowery and his spouse. The surviving blended family also includes eleven grandchildren, one great-grandchild and eight nieces and nephews.

Steve is preceded in death by his parents, Blossom and Harold Mumbower; his aunts, Alberta Shaw and Betty Lowery and their spouses and his cousins, Carol Ann Foote and Darla Fisher.

Steve is remembered fondly for his remarkable ability to design something in his head and then make it real. It might be the ultimate paper towel holder, a rubber band gun for a young boy, or an entire room added on to the family cabin at Bear Paw Lake. Steve preferred working with metal rather than wood because metal allows greater accuracy.  He ALWAYS used screws instead of nails. Despite some physical challenges, Steve did his very best in everything he undertook. Steve's father taught him that "anything worth doing is worth doing right the first time."  Steve is also remembered for his strong Christian faith that sustained him his entire life. It was a life well lived to the fullest. He will be sorely missed.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers that you consider a gift to a charity of your choice in Steve's name. A private family memorial will take place.
