Stephen L. Bassett of Placitas, New Mexico, passed away February 15, 2026, at the age of 91.

Steve was an award-winning writer, producer, and journalist, and also served in Korea. He lived a remarkable life that spanned from the Passaic River in New Jersey to the Golden Coast of California, and from the mesas of New Mexico to the Loire Valley in France. Steve is survived by his wife, Darlene Chandler Bassett; his son, Steve Bassett; his daughter, Lesley Bassett and five grandchildren.
