On Monday, February 13, 2023, Sara A. Miller, loving wife and mother of four daughters, passed away at the age of 73.  Sara was born on June 28, 1949 in La Chorrera, Nicaragua to Pedro and Erlinda Mendoza.  She completed high school in Managua, Nicaragua and trained in secretarial and administrative skills, including shorthand. She was a member of the Mennonite church in Morazán, Nicaragua. In 1972 she met the love of her life, Maurice Miller, who was a voluntary service missionary with the Mennonite Conservative Conference.  Together, they engaged in missionary work at a clinic in Rio Blanco, a remote village in central Nicaragua.  They became engaged in 1975, corresponded by mail for a year, and were married on January 17, 1976 in Managua, Nicaragua and drove a 1966 Chevy van across Central America, Mexico, and the United States prior to arriving in Augres, Michigan, where they made their home.  Sara was a devout member of Riverside Mennonite Church in AuGres, where she felt a strong sense of belonging and made many lifelong friends in that beloved community.

In 1986, Sara and Maurice moved to Albuquerque, NM in response to God's clear call to missionary work.  She dedicated herself tirelessly to raising her daughters and niece, Sarita, and many other "adopted" children that lived in her home over the years.   She actively engaged with Maurice in God's work in Albuquerque including youth ministry, countless Bible studies, and perpetual pastoral care of the congregation.

Sara loved her family deeply, had a bleeding heart for her grandchildren, and was a fierce "mama bear."  She was known to be an exceptional cook, and was famous especially for her rice, her herbal remedies, and her tender care for us when we were ill.  She was also an expert thrift shopper, and never stopped thinking about how she might help others in need.  We remember her passion and steadfast support for mission work both locally and globally, which provided a beautiful example of faithful giving to all of us.  Sara was known as a devout prayer warrior, and prayed daily for her husband, children, grandchildren, church, and the worries and concerns of anyone who confided in her.  She was a loyal friend and many would come to her for her wise counsel and encouragement (sometimes admonishment).  In summary, Sara was a powerful and positive influence in the lives of many, and her impact undoubtedly extends into the eternal realm.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Erlinda, and her father, Pedro.  She is survived by her husband, Maurice, four daughters, Karla, Kendra, Karissa, and Kayleen, as well as eight siblings, Abelino, Alva, Boanerges, Dina, Noe, Eduardo, Ismael, and Benjamin.  She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, Elise, Autumn, Nathan, Noah, Ezekiel, Eliana, Nevaye, Nakeah, Nehemiah, Josiah, Peter, Daniel, and Judah, as well as two great-grandchildren, Ezra and Easton.

El lunes 13 de febrero de 2023, Sara A. Miller, esposa amorosa y madre de cuatro hijas, falleció a la edad de 73 años.  Sara nació el 28 de junio de 1949 en La Chorrera, Nicaragua, hija de Pedro y Erlinda Mendoza.  Completó la escuela secundaria en Managua, Nicaragua y se capacitó en secretariado y habilidades administrativas, incluida la taquigrafía.  Fue miembro de la iglesia menonita en Morazán, Nicaragua.  En 1972 conoció al amor de su vida, Mauricio Miller, quien era un misionero de servicio voluntario con la Conferencia Menonita Conservadora.  Juntos, se dedicaron a la obra misional en una clínica en Río Blanco, una aldea remota en el centro de Nicaragua.  Se comprometieron en 1975, mantuvieron correspondencia por correo durante un año, y se casaron el 17 de enero de 1976 en  Managua, Nicaragua.  Condujeron una camioneta Chevy 1966 a través de América Central, México y los Estados Unidos antes de llegar a Augres, Michigan, donde hicieron su primer hogar.  Sara era una miembro devota de la Iglesia Menonita Riverside en AuGres, donde se sintió muy amada e hizo muchos amigos para toda la vida en esa amada comunidad.

En 1986, Sara y Mauricio se mudaron a Albuquerque, NM en respuesta al claro llamado de Dios a la obra misionera.  Se dedicó incansablemente a criar a sus hijas y sobrina, Sarita, y muchos otros niños "adoptados" que vivieron en su casa a lo largo de los años.   Ella se involucró activamente con Mauricio en la obra de Dios en Albuquerque, incluyendo el ministerio juvenil, innumerables estudios bíblicos y el perpetuo cuidado pastoral de la congregación.

Sara amaba profundamente a su familia, tenía un corazón "sangrante" por sus nietos y era una feroz "mamá oso".  Ella era conocida por ser una cocinera excepcional, y era famosa especialmente por su arroz, sus remedios herbales y su tierno cuidado para su familia cuando estabamos enfermos.  También era una experta compradora de segunda mano, y nunca dejó de pensar en cómo podría ayudar a otros necesitados.  Recordamos su pasión y su firme apoyo  a la  obra misionera tanto a nivel local como mundial, que proporcionó un hermoso ejemplo de entrega fiel a todos nosotros.  Sara era conocida como una devota guerrera de oración, y oraba diariamente por su esposo, hijos, nietos, iglesia y las preocupaciones de cualquiera que confiara en ella.  Ella era una amiga leal y muchos acudían a ella por su sabio consejo y aliento (a veces regaños).  En resumen, Sara fue una influencia poderosa y positiva en la vida de muchos, y su impacto, sin duda, se extiende al reino eterno.

Fue precedida en la muerte por su madre, Erlinda, y su padre, Pedro.  Le sobreviven su esposo, Mauricio, cuatro hijas, Karla, Kendra, Karissa y Kayleen, así como ocho hermanos, Abelino, Alva, Boanerges, Dina, Noé, Eduardo, Ismael y Benjamin.  También le sobreviven trece nietos, Elise, Autumn, Nathan, Noah, Ezekiel, Eliana, Nevaye, Nakeah, Nehemías, Josías, Peter, Daniel y Judah, así como dos bisnietos, Ezra  y Easton.
