Richard David "Rick" Page, partner of Paul Dandois, passed away on Friday, August 15th 2025.

Rick was born on August 3rd, 1957 to Phyllis "Lil" Mackey and Richard Herbert Page. His biological father died when he was eight and Rick was raised by his stepfather, Paul Mackey, who he thought of as "daddy."

A landscaper by trade, Rick was a free spirit who loved seeing the beauty of nature and creating beauty in equal measure. He made his living by designing wonderful outdoor spaces in which people found respite. Even in casual gatherings, you would always find him putting on music and lighting candles to set a mood that all could enjoy.

Born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Rick quickly became an avid traveler, working construction with his cousin in Las Vegas, living in Cambridge for a time, working in gardens, selling Christmas trees and working as a photography model, before living on and managing a yacht, as 1st mate, for several years in Florida. He spent time working in Minnesota while living on a houseboat, then traveling across the country to San Francisco where he spent his days working for a nursery. Along the way Rick traveled with friends and spent time in Denmark, Paris and London. He traveled throughout North America, to Hawaii, Jamaica and New Zealand. In his 40s, he moved back to Albuquerque where he met his partner, Paul Dandois and the pair supported each other through good times and bad.

Rick was a private person, most at home in the mountains connecting with nature and meditating. He also loved and cared deeply for his parents, Lil and Paul, and created an oasis at their home that was a second haven, a beautiful slice of nature that he designed and tended to for many years.

Rick was initially diagnosed with cancer seven years ago and was in need of convalescence. He was grateful for the care provided by his mother, Lil, with help from members of his family and friends, before returning to his home with Paul. Rick was not one to let dire news stop him from living his life. After his convalescence, Rick often spoke about how he felt that he was living a second life; a new chapter that allowed him to grow and learn so much. He took a special joy in finding unique, personalized gifts for his nurses and doctors throughout the course of his illness.

Rick is survived by his parents, Paul and Lil; his partner, Paul Dandois; his siblings, Yvonne, Jeannine, John, Mark and Paul along with his nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews-a large family that always loved spending time with him.

Rick was one of a kind. Our family will miss him every day.
