Richard "Buddy" Cordova

With hearts full of gratitude and sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved father, Richard “Buddy” Cordova, who bravely took his final breath in his home on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at the age of 92. A man of extraordinary devotion and strength, he lived almost a full century as a force of nature — unyielding, loving, and unforgettable.

From humble beginnings during the Great Depression, Richard built a life defined by devotion. He was a proud veteran of the Korean Conflict and was the first in his family to attend college. Richard was a devoted son, brother, and husband to the late Helen, his wife of 53 years; a proud and guiding father of four children — Camille, Mark, Carla (the late Roy), and Luke (Paula); a doting grandfather to his five grandchildren, Jake (Veronica), Alex (Marisa), Andie (Alexandre), Jesse, and Santana; and a joyous great-grandfather to Londyn and Kemi. He is also survived by his extended family, in-laws; He was a generous friend to many.

Buddy’s legacy includes the indelible influence he had on his children, his ability to inspire countless people with his knowledge of New Mexico history and genealogy, and the support of patients during his decades as a pharmacist. Stories of Richard’s childhood paint a picture of resilience and adaptability, and love of family.

The family is grateful for the love, prayers and support shown to them.
