Richard I. Austin, born June 9, 1942 was unexpectedly taken home Saturday October 3, 2020.

Richard was a patriarch, a mentor to four generations and a man with a personality that was larger than life. He was a devoted and loving husband to his one and only true love for 57 years.  Richard was the dad to his children as well as his grandchildren and a man who would help them through childhood fears and failures and turn all that he could into self-confidence and success. He had many gifts and talents which included love of music and love of cooking, which was savored and shared among many.

He was known by many names throughout the family; "Richard", "Dad", "Bampo", "Dick", "Uncle Dickie", and "Uncle Richard", to name a few.  Richard was a person whose devotion to his family was everything to him. He will be especially remembered by a gentle strength and loving nature that made everyone feel special and important.  He was a wonderful example of what more men should be, encompassing the values of God, family, and doing for others.

Richard is survived by his wife, Gloria; by his two daughters, Denine and her husband Bob and Lisa; five grandchildren, Jacob, Morgan, Amber, Madison, Isabella and one great granddaughter, Talia; as well as many other family members and friends who loved and will miss him greatly.

A Funeral Service will be held at Church of the Risen Savior, 7701 Wyoming Blvd. NE., on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at 9:15 am. Interment will follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery on Paseo del Norte and Wyoming NE.  Only persons 18 and over may attend, limitation is due to church and cemetery restrictions on the number of persons allowed at the service.  All persons attending services must wear a mask per COVID19 restrictions.   A reception will take place at a later date.
