Raymundo Pacheco, a lifelong resident of Santa Rosa, passed away on April 23, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 28, 1939, in Puerto de Luna, New Mexico, to Pedro and Genoveva (Nieto) Pacheco. Ray spent his childhood in Puerto de Luna and often shared fond memories of growing up there and attending the local school.

On February 23, 1958, he joined the U.S. Navy, completing basic training in San Diego before being stationed aboard the U.S.S. George Clymer in Portland, Oregon. After four years of honorable service, he was discharged on April 23, 1962, with the rank of E3 Seaman.

Upon returning from the Navy, Ray moved back to New Mexico and began working in construction, followed by delivering propane, before starting work as an autobody technician where he eventually owned his own shop Ray's Body Shop from which he retired. He spent many years doing body work and painting vehicles in both Clovis and Santa Rosa.  In his free time Ray enjoyed fishing, sitting outside listening to NM Spanish music, and visiting with friends and family.   Ray loved attending Santa Rosa Lion and Lady Lion sporting events, especially when his grandchildren were participating. Even after they graduated, he remained a dedicated supporter, showing up to cheer on a new generation of athletes. In addition to sports, Ray found great joy in spending time at the Senior Center with his friends who became family.  This became the highlight of his day. While enjoying lunch, he proudly shared stories about his grandchildren and great-grandchildren—and he never missed a chance to show off a new photo.  Ray was a member of the St. Rose de Lima Parish in Santa Rosa, NM.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Pedro and Genoveva Pacheco; his daughter, Pamela Ann Pacheco; and his brothers and sisters-in-law, Carlos Pacheco, Orlando and Josie Pacheco, Horacio Pacheco and Frank and Viola Pacheco and brother-in-law Raymond Baca.

He is survived by his loving wife, Maria Pacheco; his sister, Marcella Baca; sister-in-law Marie Pacheco, his children, Patrick (Darlene) Pacheco, Cassandra (Rumaldo) Maestas, Danny (Leslie) Bradley, Larry Bradley, Sylvia (Ronnie) Malloy, Sheila Diaz, and Sue (Jimmy) Guinn. Ray is also survived by his 19 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter on the way, numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends.

Services will be held at St Rose de Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa, New Mexico on Wednesday, May 14, 2025. The Rosary will be recited at 1:00 pm followed by the Mass of Christian Burial. The interment will take place at 3:00 pm at St Joseph Cemetery with US Navy Honors.
