Randy Joseph Samora was born September 28, 1971 in Raton, New Mexico. He passed away Saturday, August 30, 2025 surrounded by his loved ones.
Randy was an employee of the City of Albuquerque Police Department as a dispatcher and in Court Services until he medically retired in 2023. Randy's love of police patches led to the creation of The Pink Patch Project. Randy with the help of APD raised $5,000 for the American Cancer Foundation. In his position with APD, Randy was able to participate in many outreach programs helping the community, which was his passion. Randy loved collecting things from baseball cards to police patches and was always talking about and showing off his APD patches with pride. Randy was also very passionate about his Kansas City Chiefs and his Cincinnati Reds, always cheering them on every season. He loved coaching sports and learning new songs to play on his guitar. Randy loved his 5 dogs and more recently was taking culinary classes at CNM. The loss of Randy leaves a hole that can never be filled. His family will miss him every day until they see him again.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Samora; his mother, Kathy Montoya; by his grandmother who raised him, Lennie "Lynn" Drummond; his brother, Ernest Samora Jr. and by his uncle, Jerry Rutherford.
Randy is survived by his wife, Rubianna; his son, Julian Samora; his daughter, Krystinna Sanchez; grandson, Gearmo Pacheco; sisters, Evelyn Montez, Pat Guerrero, Jeannie Archuleta (Joshua) and Kathleen Watts; brother, Lee Montoya (Yvonne); in-laws, Joe and Glorianna Cortez; brother-in-law, Juan Carlos Cortez (Sherilyn) and aunt, Patricia Sliwinski; best friend that he considered a brother, Pablo Gabaldon and the mother of his son, Donna Torres; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends he considered family.
Services will be held at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 5712 Paradise Blvd NW, Albuquerque, NM 87114, on Tuesday, September 16, 2025. The Rosary will be recited at 9:30 am. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrate at 10:15 am
