Obituary

With great sadness Ralph Schubert passed away peacefully on September 11, 2022 at 2:34 pm after a long, hard fought illness.

Ralph was born July 30, 1943 in San Jose, California. He returned with family to Alameda/Albuquerque where he was raised and graduated from Our Lady of Sorrows in Bernalillo. Later he became an auto mechanic and worked for many years at Frontier Ford, then the city of Albuquerque where he gained many friends. He also worked at a ranch in Colorado near Grand Junction where he learned about ranching and gained a second family there.

Ralph had many hobbies, especially dancing, visiting with friends over beers, pool and good country music. Did I mention dancing? His favorites included Epi's, Rudy's, Post 69 and Territorial House. Ralph was a dedicated Dallas Cowboy fan from day one, win or lose. He will be remembered as a great story teller, jokes;  short ones, colorful ones, some funny, some ehh… Good ole days. He had a heart of gold was generous to a fault and most importantly, he was loved by all and will be greatly missed.

Ralph is survived by his sisters, Ernestina Lueras and Teresa Schubert; niece, Josie (John)Schutt, also his caregiver for the past 3 years and their extended families; as well as many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly, Lorraine, Geraldine (Chuck), Emily, Juan, Jeremy, Joel, Javier, Ronnie and of course their families.

He was also blessed with an extended family which he loved immensely as well, Michelle and Joe Garcia, Paul and Kathy Hernandez/daughter Gina and family, Gerri Gallegos, Chris, Daniel, many more.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Carmella Schubert; grandfather, Adolfo and grandmother, Candelaria Castillo; aunt, Mela Castillo; mother, Stella Velasquez; father, Fred Schubert; sisters, Luvie Lucero, Candy Gonzales (Eloy);  brother, Lloyd Castillo; nieces, Vicky Lucero, Anita Pena, Anthony Schubert and Eloy Gonzales Jr.
