Phyllis Claire Rector was born October 15, 1926, in Hobart, Indiana. She passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at the age of 97. Phyllis will be remembered as a very loving mother and grandmother who cherished her family dearly.

In addition to spending time with family and friends, Phyllis loved to quilt, read, play a good game of cards, bake (shown by the number of 'friendship bread' loaves she gave to so many), garden, and especially loved spending time at the family cabin at Bluewater Lake.

Phyllis attended business college and started working as a bookkeeper at Wellborn Paint, after which she spent 30+ years as a bookkeeper with Valley Gold, later Borden Dairy. She was a dedicated and respected employee and coworker. Phyllis was also a dedicated member of the VFW Post 401 Women's Auxiliary, as she cared deeply about our veterans.

After retiring, Phyllis cared for her husband until his death in 1996. She then continued on to serve in the Salvation Army Home League, even bringing her granddaughters on mission with her.  After her work with the Salvation Army, she served the Lord until her passing as a member of Del Norte Baptist Church.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Rector; sister, Nancy Zwilling; brothers, Morse Catt, and R. Lindy Catt; and two granddaughters, Andrea Rector and Jennifer Slater.

She is survived by her loving children, John and Cookie Rector of San Diego, CA, Jack and Della Rector of Edgewood, NM, Rebecca Mulbery of Albuquerque, Penny and Brad Dutton of Belen, NM, Judith and Tony Turrieta of Albuquerque, and Janice Lopes of San Diego, CA; sisters, Jackie Stanat of Albuquerque, Sharon and Tony Pomykala of Cottonwood, AZ and Kathy Catt-Griggs of Glendale, AZ; brother, Paul and Gerrie Rector of Chama, NM. She is also survived by her 20 grandchildren, Shawn and Vanessa Rector, Jason and Shantell Rector, Jeffrey and Katy Mulbery, Larry Slater, Bobby and Traci Rector, Hoyt and Allison Dutton, Deslynn and Kamal deAlwis, Sydney Turrieta, and Nahia Turrieta; 31 great grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; as well as numerous other cousins, nieces, nephews, family members and friends who loved and will miss her greatly. Phyllis was also very fond of her hairdresser of 20+ years, Virgina Sprunk, who consistently added to Phyllis' God-given beauty, and was a steadfast friend.

A celebration of her life will be held at Del Norte Baptist Church, 5800 Montgomery Blvd. NE. ABQ., NM. 87109, on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at 11:00 am with Pastor Kevin Warner officiating. A reception will immediately follow at the Del Norte Conference Center/Ministerio Hispano Building, 6100 Montgomery Blvd. NE. ABQ., NM. 87109. Inurnment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE at 2:30pm. Honorary Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
