Obituary

Perry Richard Key, born August 16, 1942, in Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away peacefully at the age of 82.

Perry was preceded in death by his mother, Jane Key and by his eldest son, Kevin Key.

He is survived by his father, Perry S. Key (106 years old); his wife, Connie; his son, Brian and daughter-in-law, Tara; grandchildren Caleb, Cadence and Colton; siblings, Denny, Paulette and Sally.

Perry graduated from Highland High School in Albuquerque in 1960 and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1960 to 1964. After his service, he returned to Albuquerque, a city he proudly called home. For 33 years, Perry worked as a graphic designer for the City of Albuquerque's planning department, where he used his artistic talents to design projects visible across the city, including artwork for police vehicles and light posts.

Upon retiring in 1999, Perry combined his love for cars and his artistic skills to create highly detailed hand-drawn renderings of classic cars. His art captured memories for countless classic car enthusiasts, and his work became a cherished part of Albuquerque's car culture, showcased in local establishments like the Owl Bar Café. His passion for cars extended beyond the canvas; he was a familiar face at car shows around the area, always ready to share his enthusiasm with others.

A celebration of Perry's life will be held at Northdale Baptist Church, 123 Osuna Rd NW, Albuquerque, NM 87107 on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at 1:00 p.m., followed by a reception. Remembrances, in his honor, can be sent to Direct Funeral Services, 2919 4th St NW. Perry will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit lives on in the art and memories he leaves behind.
