Obituary

Godinez, Paul "Pablo" - It is with heavy hearts we announce that Paul passed peacefully at home at the age of 87, on November 7, 2024.

Paul was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He married his loving wife, Ruth, in 1959, who supported him for over 65 years, especially through his illness this past year.

He was proud to have served his country in the United States Army Infantry when he enlisted in 1955. He was stationed in Bamberg Germany where he was promoted to sergeant. Paul held many fond memories while he served and would often tell stories of his experiences, the German culture, the food, and speaking the language. After returning to New Mexico, he also served in the Army National Guard. After many years he retired from the City of Albuquerque as a supervisor in the Housing Authority Department.

Paul loved gardening, fishing, hunting, cooking, singing, playing the guitar, and just having a good time. He was known for cooking the best varieties of chile and salsa, which were grown in his garden. He also took pleasure in watching the Miami Dolphins and the Los Angeles Dodgers. When Paul was younger, he coached Little League to his oldest son's team. Throughout his life, he enjoyed attending the sporting and performance events of his children and grandchildren.

His family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, brought him immense joy.

Paul is survived by his wife, Ruth, and their children: daughter, Linda Conti (Mark); son, Philip (Sylvia); son, Donald (Diane); son, Gabriel (Debbie); daughter, Katie Hamm (Markus); grandchildren: Anthony (Sabrina), Julian, Andrew J., Valerie (Mere), Alexis (Alexander) and Jadyn; great-grandchildren: Alina, Olivia, Miliano and Adelaide; brother, Richard (Bennie); sister-in-law, Corinne Lopez (Frank) and numerous other loving relatives and friends. The family would also like to thank Eddie and Ann Montoya for their emotional support.

He is preceded in death by his parents Pablo and Narcisa (Rodriguez) Godinez; daughter, Rachel Mary Ann; grandson, Andrew P.; sisters: Lupe, Angie, Flora, Carol, Valentina "Tiny"; brothers: Crescencio, Louie, and Frankie.

Paul's stories of his life, his personality, and everything about him will live on through his family. He will, without a doubt, leave a lasting impact on the lives of all who have had the privilege of knowing him.
