Paul Alvin Bittner, beloved father and grandfather, passed away on April 11, 2024, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Paul was born October 31, 1935, in Canon City, Colorado, where he was raised with his five brothers and sisters. He graduated from Canon City High School in 1954 and soon after, he joined the US Navy, in which he served for four years. He was trained in electronics and served as a Fire Control Technician on destroyer escorts. Paul was honorably discharged in 1958, then served three years in the Naval Reserve.

After Paul was discharged, he married the love of his life, Nona Lou Crawford, in Ventura, California. Paul earned his Bachelor of Science in electronic engineering from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona in 1966. He worked as an electronic engineer and quality control manager at several companies, including Lockheed, Spectra Physics and Varian Associates, residing in Baltimore, Maryland, and Cupertino, California. Paul and Nona were parents to two children, Lynette and Gary. After retiring, Paul and Nona moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, to be near Lynette and Gary.

Paul volunteered at many organizations around Albuquerque, including the National Museum of Nuclear Science and History, New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science, and Explora Science Center and Children's Museum. He enjoyed puttering around the house and spending time with his children and grandson. He loved telling jokes and making his family and friends laugh, and was always ready with a story.

Paul is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters, and wife, Nona. He is survived by his children, Lynette and Gary Bittner, daughter-in-law Barbara Bittner, grandson Geoffrey Bittner, brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Maxine Bittner, and several nieces and nephews. There will be a closed family service and Paul will be interred with Nona at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
