Patricia Vandenberg

1947 - 2026

Patricia "Patty" Ann Vandenberg, 79, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2026, with her daughters at her side, after battling heart failure.

Patty was born on February 17, 1947, in Dumas, AR. After being raised by Doyle and Pearl Rice in Arkansas and New Mexico, Patty had a varied career, primarily in bookkeeping. She and her husband, Tony Vandenberg, lived in Dumas, Arkansas for more than thirty years, where she worked  at the Dumas Co-op, Dante's Gin, Tony's Donuts, and the Daughters of Charity clinic. She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church and was grateful for the many supportive friends she found there. She and Tony returned to Albuquerque in 2008 to be near family and friends, where her greatest joy was to be with her only grandchild Antonio. Whether with family or friends, Patty was always quick with a joke and a fiery political opinion, and her laugh and intellect will be missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Rene Rodriguez and Gayle and Michael Rossman; her grandson, Antonio; her brother, Doyle Rice Jr.; her sister, Gwen Zwoyer; her sisters-in-law, Jo Ann Vandenberg, Doree Rice and Jean Vandenberg, and by her brothers-in-law, Jeff Zwoyer and Robert Vandenberg.
