Nancy Cunningham Rodriguez was born December 27th, 1952, the daughter of John and Molly Cunningham, longtime residents of Albuquerque NM.

She attended Valley High School in Albuquerque, graduating in 1970. She went on to University of Washington in Seattle for college where she graduated with a degree in geology in 1974.

After graduation, she started her career in geology at the Army Corps of Engineers in Seattle, Washington where she worked until she moved to Kimberly BC, Canada where she was employed by Cominco. She next moved into the Wilds of British Columbia to live and work on a trap line located on a sidearm of the Stikine River before returning to Albuquerque.

Once back in New Mexico, she worked as a waitress and stockbroker before being hired by the Office of the State Engineer where she spent 22 years working with water rights starting in the field and becoming a supervisor. She retired in 2015 and has enjoyed retirement with her husband, Chuy Rodriguez, bicycling and going on trips in their motorhome.

She has stayed active as a consultant for water rights with the middle Rio Grande Conservancy District and has served on the boards of various organizations including a term as president of The Tin Lizzies of Albuquerque and treasurer for the community of Las Placitas.

She enjoyed making and decorating cakes, scrapbooking, and practicing Wild West Arts including trick rope spinning which she learned from her father and whip-cracking.

She also volunteered her time and money in support of women's causes particularly CREW New Mexico and the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.

Nancy traveled extensively throughout her life with her friends and family and gave generously her support, joy, and enthusiasm for life to many. Her loving heart outlives her in all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Chuy Rodriguez; her daughter, Romina Rodriguez; her grandson, Christian Rodriguez; her brother and his wife, Paul and Margaret Cunningham.

A visitation will take place in the Chapel of Direct Funeral Services, on Thursday, October 14, 2021 from 2:00pm to 4:00 pm.
