Monica Anne Elisabeth Baca, affectionately known as Mona and Moni, passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, in her hometown of Albuquerque, New Mexico.  Born on February 24, 1967 to Tom and Connie Shepherd, Monica was a cherished member of the Albuquerque community where she was born and raised and continued to enrich the lives of those around her.

On May 12, 1990, Monica married the love of her life, James Baca, in a beautiful ceremony at Saint Mary's Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  Monica and James were true Soul Mates and together they raised many Furr-babies and were blessed to be a major part of their nieces and nephews lives.

Monica's hobbies included reading, cooking, baking, collecting antique glassware, and Disney memorabilia. She took great joy in her home and the holidays, Christmas being her favorite, so much so that she had a Christmas Tree displayed year-round.

Monica was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Connie Shepherd.  She is survived by her loving husband, James; her sister, Susan, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends who loved and will miss her greatly.

A viewing for family and friends will be held in the Chapel of Direct Funeral Services, 2919 4th St NW, Albuquerque, New Mexico, on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, from 2:00 pm to - 4:00pm.  The services to honor and celebrate Monica's life will be held at Risen Savior Catholic Church, located at 7701 Wyoming Blvd NE, Albuquerque, New Mexico on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at 1:00 pm.  Monica will be laid to rest at Gate of Heaven Cemetery following her Mass.
