Miguel Angel Larrañaga, "Mike" was born October 28, 1941 in Encino, New Mexico to Alberto and Isabelita Larrañaga. He passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2025 at the Veterans Medical Center in Albuquerque.
Mike honorably served his country in the United States Army and the Army National Guard 720th Transportation Company, where he was deployed to the Persian Gulf in Operation Desert Storm.
He loved to spend time at the family ranch in Encino. He loved horseback riding, reading his Bible, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Mike attended New Mexico Highlands University and obtained his Masters Degree in Social Work. He went on to work for the State of New Mexico, retiring from the Highway Department.
He was preceded in death by his parents Alberto and Isabelita Larrañaga. Mike is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Dolores "Girlie", of the family home in Moriarty; four children, Esther Garcia of California, Danielle Tenorio and husband Michael of Moriarty, Alberto Larrañaga and wife Tracey of Albuquerque and Valentina Larrañaga of Moriarty; eleven grandchildren, Joshua, Brittany, Ana, Abraham, Joseph, Adrian, Aliya, Cameron, Daisy, Ayanna and Aaron; one great granddaughter, Jasmine; two brothers, Leandro, Isidro and wife Margie; two sisters, Nancy Lopez and husband Frank, Maggie Archibeque and husband Ernest; Mike's best friend, Herman Garcia; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends who loved and will miss him greatly.
Services will be held at The Lions Club of Moriarty, 515 Lions Ct. Moriarty, NM. 87035 on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at 11:00 am with a reception following the service. The interment will follow at the Los Rincones (Red Hills) Cemetery with US Army Honors.
Pallbearers will be Andre Larrañaga, Timothy Lopez, Brian Archibeque and Herman Garcia. The Honorary Pallbearers will be Tracey Larrañaga, Michael Tenorio and his grandchildren.
