Michael Joseph Salandre

Michael Joseph Salandre, age 59, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, surrounded by loved ones, after a valiant fight with cancer.

Born on March 30, 1966, in Albuquerque, Michael was the beloved son of Geraldine Lavina Bailey and Michael Dominic Salandre. He was a devoted son, brother, father, and grandfather, who cherished his family deeply.

Michael is survived by two brothers, Christopher and John Salandre; two children, Lyra Ardan Salandre and Aurelius Diego Salandre; his beloved granddaughter, Breelynn Ardan Banas and many neices and nephews.

He was a loving father who cherished his family and instilled in them the values of love, loyalty and unity.  His enduring legacy is one of compassion and strength, reminding us all to embrace the bonds of family and they joy they bring.

Michael was known for his unwavering faith as a Christian and his passion for firearms, aircrafts, history, golf, motorcycles, racecars, motorcross, mechanics and custom machining.

Many found joy in sharing his passions at Gearheads, a family-run shop. Michael, alongside his brother Chris, created a nurturing environment where their children learned valuable skills in sportsmanship, craftsmanship and the intricacies of running a business. His dedication to blending family, work, hobbies and education will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.

Always with a dog, a refreshment and a friendly welcome, Michaels warmth, love and companionship will be greatly missed by many.  Rest in peace dear Michael.

The family thanks all who attended the private memorial service held in June 2025.
