Michael Thomas Patchell, age 84, passed into the loving arms of Jesus on June 5, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Anna Patchell and siblings John Patchell and Ruth Dawson.

He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 65 years, Judith. Also by his daughter Vanessa Patchell and sons, Sean and Shay Patchell, grandchildren Michael Patchell #2, Leslie Wendel, Kelly Patchell, Katelyn Patchell, Joshua Patchell and Rachel Patchell. Also 6 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and many wonderful friends and relatives.

Mike was born in Albuquerque on August 27, 1939. He lived with his family in the North Valley,  graduated from Valley High School in 1957 and attended UNM. When he graduated high school Mike and several of his friends decided to join the Air National Guard. He and his buddies served during weekends with the Guard for several years. He served a 4 year apprenticeship with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and after  graduation began a career as a Journeyman Wireman.

After many years of working and traveling as an  electrician, Mike, encouraged by Judy began looking for a job closer to home. PNM hired him to work  in the Relay Department.  After a few years he went from Relay to the Safety Department, then to Labor Relations and finally to Human Resources. He loved working at PNM and retired after 25 years. His retirement years were busy keeping a garden, doing chores around the house, helping out with the grandkids, learning Spanish on Rosetta Stone and serving on the Finance Committee at Shepherd of the Valley Presbyterian Church. Mike and Judy enjoyed traveling during those years mostly on cruises. His favorite trip was a Mediterranean cruise which they took before his health began to fail. Mike had an outrageous sense of humor which was an endearing quality enjoyed by all who knew him, he was just so funny! He is and will be forever missed. A memorial service will be forthcoming.
