Michael Angelo Chavez "Mikey" was born November 2, 1976. A lifelong resident of Albuquerque, he passed away on September 29, 2025 at the age of 48.

Mikey will be remembered as a very independent man who loved to spend the holidays celebrating with his family.  He truly enjoyed being around low riders and classic cars. Mikey really liked music and had several songs that held special memories for him;  "Let's Dance" by Chris Montez, "If I Could Fly" by R Kelly and Oogum Boogum" by Brenton Wood, to name a few. He was loved and will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard "Dickey" and Helen Chavez and is survived by his daughter, Esmeralda Chavez Quinonez; brother, Chris Chavez and wife Vera Chavez; sister, Lisa Marie Sedillo and husband William Michael Sedillo; granddaughter, Samaya Lee Ann Coleman; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members and friends that will always have fond memories of him.

Services will be held at St. Anne Parish, 1400 Arenal Blvd. SW., on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at 9:00 am. The interment will then take place at San Jose de Armijo Cemetery, 2957 Arenal Blvd. SW., with a reception following. Pallbearers will be his nephews, Paul Ray and Chris Jr. and Isaiah and his great friend/brother, Delfino Rubi.
