Mela Beserra was born June 18, 1927 in San Marcial, New Mexico. She passed away on Monday, January 1, 2024 at the age of 96.

Mela will be remembered as a loving sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She was an active member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church who loved to dance, loved people, had many friends, and was extremely dedicated and determined in her life and in her work.

Mela was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Beserra; sons, Richard Beserra and Patrick Beserra and by her ten siblings.

She is survived by her son, Ron Beserra; sisters, Dorella Caire Perera and Elisa C. Vargas; grandchildren, Colby Beserra, Kim Fencil, Brock Beserra, Richard Beserra, Troy Beserra, Tracy Derheim and Helene Lynch; 12 great grandchildren; as well as other family members and friends who loved and will miss her.

Services will be held at Sacred Heart Parish, 309 Stover AVE. SW., on Saturday, January 20, 2024. A Rosary will be recited at 9:00 am. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 am. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 1900 Edith Blvd. NE. A reception will then take place back at Sacred Heart Parish reception hall.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Perea, Marcus Barreras, Joseph Barreras, Ben Michael Barreras, Ray M. Vargas and Ron Beserra.
