In Loving Memory of

Mary MacArthur

September 30, 1964 – May 12, 2026

Mary MacArthur, 61, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away at home on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, following a months-long illness.

Mary was adopted into a loving family and raised alongside a boisterous group of brothers. In addition to learning early on how to hold her own with the boys, Mary grew up enjoying sports, swimming, reading, writing, camping, and, especially, time spent with her childhood friends.

After high school, Mary set out to see the world. She traveled extensively with friends and eventually held jobs that gave her the opportunity to live in France, India, Alabama, California, and, finally, Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Mary arrived in Albuquerque knowing no one, but that did not last long. She soon built a close circle of friends and dining companions whom she loved spending time with and who cared deeply for her.

Keeping in touch with the people she loved was especially important to Mary. She stayed connected with friends and family and had a special place in her heart for her nieces and nephews. She rarely missed an opportunity to send a birthday card, Christmas card, or simply a note to say hello and check in. Receiving mail from Mary was always a special treat, particularly because of the personalized, hand-decorated envelopes she created for the people she cared about.

Mary is survived by a loving family and many dear friends. Her humor, independent spirit, thoughtfulness, and the special way she stayed connected with the people in her life will be deeply missed.

Mary’s ashes will be spread in Albuquerque, followed by a celebration of her life with family and friends at The Sawmill Market, 1909 Bellamah Ave NW., on Saturday, September 26, 2026 at 3:00 pm.
