Mary Catherine "Cathy" Rose Chavez
March 31, 1950 – February 10, 2022
Mary Catherine Rose Chavez of Albuquerque went home to be with our Lord on February 10, 2022. She was a loving daughter, sister, aunt and friend.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ralph I. and Bess C. Chavez, her soul sister Margaret Olona.
She is survived by siblings Raymond Chavez (Betty), Rose and Jimmy Gilbert, Gloria I. Baca (Carlos), and Ralph A. Chavez (Mary). She is also survived by her life partner, Tina Lucero. Cathy had many nieces and nephews whom she loved very much and her family was supportive and loving throughout her life. Family was everything to Cathy and she was very close to her siblings.
Cathy was born on March 31, 1950 and was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque. She attended Our Lady of Fatima School for a time and graduated from Highland High School in 1968. She was employed at UNM where she worked full time from 1974 until her retirement in 2002 and continued to work part-time at UNM from 2002 through 2016.

Cathy, you will be greatly missed and always loved by those of us who were blessed to have you in our lives.
The family would like to express our gratitude to all who helped Cathy on her journey Home. Darlene, Patty, Matt and Cassie, Gina and Charles, Debbie and Seth, a special thank you for the wonderful meals, friendship, and love you offered. To the friends and family who helped care for her, visited with her, offered your prayers, you have our eternal gratitude. Special thanks to Dr. Reddy, the nurses and staff at Kaseman Hospice, and Sandia Senior Suites.
A Rosary will be recited at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 4020 Lomas Blvd. NE, on Friday, February 25, 2022 at 9:30 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial immediately following at 10:00 AM. Interment will take place at a later date.
