Marie Maine, age 87, died peacefully on Friday, August 19, 2022 in Rio Rancho, New Mexico.  Marie was born on March 19, 1935 in Medford, Oregon, the daughter of Thomas J. Johnson and Veila (Stuart) Johnson.

Marie spent her early childhood in Shady Cove, Oregon where her family had a small farm and later moved to Medford Oregon.  She attended Southern Oregon University in Ashland her freshman year in college and transferred to Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, Idaho where she met her husband and received a Bachelor of Arts in Education.  She taught elementary school in Boise, Idaho for three years and became a homemaker upon the birth of her first child.  Marie also worked as a preschool teacher and senior helper.  Marie loved people and made friends easily; she will be remembered for her embodiment of Christ's love to everyone she met. She lived her faith and was always ready to help those in need. Marie enjoyed volunteering at Care Net Pregnancy Center in Rio Rancho.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Harry L. Maine; brother, Roy Johnson; sister, Margery Wooster; twin sister, Mary James, and granddaughter, Regina Maine.

Marie is survived by her four children, Elice Maine and son-in-law, David Rowe of Rio Rancho, NM; son, Thomas O. and wife Lorretta Maine of Rio Rancho; daughter, Sonya Kessinger and husband Dale of Madison, WI; son, Lester Maine and wife Jennifer of Gilbert, AZ; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Life Spire Assisted Living in Rio Rancho for their kindness and care of Marie during the last years of her life.

Her funeral and celebration of her life will be held at Faith Church, 900 Southern Blvd SE, Rio Rancho, NM., on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at 11:00 am
