Obituary

Maria Emillia Padilla aka (Grandma Emily/auntie EM) was a sister, mother, auntie, grandmother, great-great grandmother and devoted friend to many. She was someone who could be counted on no matter the person or situation. She loved with her whole heart. She could light up a room, gave advice from experience and never passed judgment. She loved to cook and was amazing at it, she would cook for any event or if her children, nieces, nephews and grandchildren showed up out of the blue on her doorstep. She was well known for her famous tamales and her chili-stained tee-shirts. She gave with her whole heart and never asked for anything in return. She was an independent woman, selfless, fearless, beautiful, a warrior, a teacher of life, and the woman we all looked up to and strive to be like. She will be missed but never forgotten and always in our hearts.

She was preceded in death by her father Florentino Padilla and mother Amilia Padilla; siblings Primitivo Padilla, Gilbert Padilla, Juanita Marks, Mariano Padilla, Lalo Padilla; son Samuel Olivas;  son-in-law Isaac Carbajal.

She is survived by her children Angela Arellano and husband Tomas, Monica Olivas and wife Brenda Sears-Olivas, Chavela Olivas, William Olivas and wife Nicole; daughter in-law Shirly Olivas; siblings Rebecca Padilla, Josie Carrillo and husband Nicolas, and Antonio Padilla; grandchildren and great grandchildren Miranda Maestas and husband Michael Maestas and their children Lilliana, Adam, and Samuel; Marcos Olivas and his child Angelina; Cristal Toledo-Arellano and wife Shannon, Erica Arellano and fiancé Leo Alvarez and their children Nylah and Mireya; Patricia Baca and her children Elijah and Brianna; Estevan Baca and his children Xadrian and Scarlet; Samantha Olivas and son Shiloh; Rachel Olivas; Benjamin Olivas and his children Titus and Abigail; Also, one great-great grandchild Olivia Baca.
