Maria "Bernie" Lopez, 86, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 29, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on February 3, 1940, in Bernalillo, New Mexico, to Fermin and Luisa P. Aragon.

Bernie was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Bobby, George, and Lawrence and by her sons, Manuelito, Jose, and Fermin.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 69 years, Nazareno 'Neno' Lopez; her sisters, Minnie, Elma and Rachel; her brother, Desi; her sons, Paul and John Lopez; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Bernie was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother who always put her family first. She cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, creating lasting memories through quality family time and meals shared.

Services will be held at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. The Viewing will begin on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at 5:30pm followed by the Rosary being recited at 6:00 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 9, 2026 at 9:00 am with burial to follow at San Carlos Cemetery. A reception will then take place at Post 69, 9000 4th St. NW.
