Margaret B. Perea of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 8, 2022.

She was born December 1, 1930 in Dixon, New Mexico, the daughter of the late Candido and Aurelia Barela.

Margaret grew up in Dixon until she moved to Santa Fe where she attended boarding school.  She then moved to Albuquerque where she attended and graduated from Menaul High School in 1950.  She furthered her education at the University of New Mexico.  Margaret worked for the Social Security Administration for 20 years, where she met many life long friends whom she cherished.

Margaret was a faithful member of the Second Presbyterian Church for many years, where she developed strong friendships and a sense of community.  She was a member of the Women's Association and an avid supporter of the Music Program.

Margaret was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph "Joe" A. Perea; her beloved son, Philip A. Perea; by one brother, Candido Barela; and by three sisters, Carmen Chambers, Frances Grim, and Mela Chavez.

She is survived by her two daughters, Cathy Perea and Patricia Madonia and son-in-law Michael Madonia; by her grandchildren, Kristina Perea, Helen Perea, Reagan Madonia, and Gianna Perea; her great grandchildren, Antoinette Lopez, Trinity and Malakai Perea-Seenath, Andres and Yuliana Garcia; and by her great-great grandson Joey Sanchez.

Memorial services will be held at the Second Presbyterian Church, 812 Edith Blvd. NE, Albuquerque on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at 10:00 am.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Second Presbyterian Church.
