Laurie Stanton-Theiler, age 76, peacefully passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of deep kindness, warmth, and a spirit of adventure.

Laurie was an easygoing soul whose life was defined by her immense capacity to care for others. As a seasoned nurse in both pediatrics and family practice, Laurie built deeply personal, lasting friendships with her patients and their families as well as the doctors she worked with. She was loved for her pleasant presence and nurturing spirit. Whether looking after family, friends, or those in need, she was a constant support. She gave selflessly, often putting the comfort and happiness of others before her own.

In her early 20’s, Laurie met Jay Stanton, an employee at her father’s sign shop. She married him, had two beautiful daughters Carrie and Elena, and then cared for Jay through the illness that took his life shortly thereafter.

Laurie then met James “Jim” Theiler and had their daughter, Lisa. Together, they embraced the beauty of the outdoors, spending time hunting in Quemado with family and friends, taking the kids and grandkids fishing, and camping across the West in their RV. Laurie treasured the Jemez, heading off old Forest Service roads where she and Jim would find untouched, quiet places in nature where you wouldn’t see another soul all weekend.

Laurie’s love for exploration was only matched by her love for her family. She cherished the special trips she took, making unforgettable memories traveling alongside her sisters, brother, children, nieces, her nephew, granddaughters and grandsons. Some of her happiest moments were spent together during the many weekends they shared sailing at Cochiti Lake, surrounded by the laughter and love of her huge, close-knit family. She was a constant source of support, warmth and love-a beautiful spirit who brought comfort to our lives and left us with a lifetime of shared adventures that will truly be missed.

Laurie is preceded in death by her beloved husbands; Jay and Jim, and is survived by her children; Carrie and Elena Stanton, Lisa Theiler, and her bonus son Danny Theiler. Her devoted sisters; Elisabeth Endean, Anita Endean, Rachelle Endean-Hawrylyshyn, her granddaughters Nikki and Amber and the many lives she touched. She is reunited in death with her parents Willis and Janet Endean; sister Leslie Endean-Singh and brother David Endean.
