Kenneth Charles
Wesley
Aug 6, 1943 — Mar 10, 2023
Rio Rancho
Kenneth Charles Wesley, affectionately known as Kenny, was born August 6, 1943 in Jackson Mississippi, to Charles Wesley and Jeanette Seaton. When he was a young child, the family relocated to Chicago, Illinois. There he attended Deneen Elementary School, YMCA High School and Olive Harvey College.
In 1961, he married Diane Goree and from that union they had two daughters, Kerri Ann Wesley (Lafayette) and Kathryn Ann Wesley (Brailsford). In 1978, he remarried this time to the love of his life, Jewell Collins, who entered the marriage with two sons from a previous marriage, Eric Colman, Jr. and Brian Derek Colman (Wesley) (who preceded him in death).
In 1979 the family moved from Chicago to Southern California to begin a new life together. Kenny worked for the U.S. government as a pipefitter plumber at the Veteran's Administration hospital and at the Long Beach Naval Ship-Yard. During the next few years, the children moved between blended family homes and completed their educational goals.
It wasn't until 1999 when a promising career move lead Kenny and Jewell to Rio Rancho, New Mexico, where he lived out the remainder of his life. His kind, friendly, outgoing personality gained him favor with everyone he met and because of this, he gained wonderful, lifelong connections with amazing friends and neighbors.
In July, 2021, Kenny rededicated his life to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He would read scriptures sent to him daily by text message and even though he couldn't quite get the hang of texting, he would manage, somehow, to reply AMEN.
One of his favorite activities was driving. He would often express the peace and solitude he felt on his many road trips to Las Vegas, with the sun on his skin, jazz music in his ears and his loving wife by his side.
Kenneth Wesley is survived by his wife, Jewell Wesley; sister, Marea Chanel; children, Kerri Lafayette, Kathryn Brailsford and Eric Colman, Jr.; son-in-law, Isaac Brailsford; grandchildren, Latina Pinkney, Shawntel Brailsford, Cartier Lafayette, Tatiana Lafayette, Brittney Colman, Skylar Colman and Brian Colman; grandson-in law, Vincent Williams; great-grandchildren, Desziray Savage, Javon Williams and Camerin Williams and a host of extended family, friends, neighbors and loved ones who will miss him greatly.
Rev 21:6-7
He said to me, "It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life. Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my Children.
