Obituary

Kenneth Leppke, 94, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2022, at his home in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was born on February 2, 1928 in Marion County, Kansas to Carl Leppke and Lizzie (Litke) Leppke. He married Janet Ellis April 19, 1952 and later divorced.  He married Carla Beth Hatton on December 21, 1970.

His early years were spent on the farm with his siblings Marvin, Lucille and LeeRoy.  In his teen years he moved with his parents and younger brother, LeeRoy to Albuquerque, New Mexico.  Later he came back to Kansas to attend Hillsboro High School.

After graduation he moved back to Albuquerque where he entered his formal career as an ironworker for the Banes Co., helping to build many metal buildings, and inventing solutions along the way. His supervisors saw promise in him, eventually promoting him to construction superintendent. He was also entrusted with learning how to become a pilot for the company's small aircraft. He managed the construction of many buildings across the southwest and even into Alaska, providing shelters for the equipment that serviced the Trans-Alaska Pipeline. In his retirement he worked as a handyman as well as owned and managed rentals until late in his life.

Ken attended Albuquerque Bible Church for well over 40 years and taught adult Sunday school and participated in choir. Later in life, he would frequently serve as song leader for church services. He was known for his work ethic and a ready smile. He enjoyed spending time with others telling stories of his youth. He was dedicated to his family both in Albuquerque and in Kansas.

This beloved husband, father, brother and son is survived by his sons, Gary of Albuquerque, Dale of Southern California, Kenneth Carl of Denver and Kory of Albuquerque; his four grandchildren and other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carla Beth;  brothers, Marvin and LeeRoy and by his sister, Lucille.

Funeral services will be at Albuquerque Bible Church, 320 Montano Rd. NW, Albuquerque, NM 87107, on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at 11:00 am. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
