Obituary

Kenneth Edward Boyd "Ken". Ken was born in Lutesville, Missouri and grew up in Pueblo, Colorado. He passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 17, 2023. Ken honorably served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War Era where he guarded the Berlin Wall from 1961-1964. Ken then started his Cash Register career with National Cash Register in 1965 and moved on to Albuquerque, New Mexico with his successful business of over 48 years, Cash Register Systems.  He was a member of the Independent Cash Register Dealers Association for over 40 years serving on their board of directors for over 10 years and as president from 1997-1999. Ken volunteered through Fountain Valley Jaycees, Colorado Springs serving as President from 1970-1971 and was the Albuquerque TIPS Club President in 1985.

Ken was an avid admirer of antique and classic cars and anything that moved fast.  Through the years he was an active and involved member of the Walter P Chrysler Club, the Chrysler 300 Club, Studebaker Drivers Club, Corvair Society of America and the Veteran Motor Car Club of America. Currently he was involved with the Elks Club and the American Legion.

It could be fondly said; he is survived by a 1964 Chrysler 300 K convertible, a 1970 Studebaker Avanti II, a 1974 Jensen Interceptor and a 1980 Rolls-Royce.  To sum it up; Cars and Cash Registers and his family were his life's passion!  As well his hobbies included travel, music and draft horses. Ken enjoyed many great times at Sandia Speedway, loved aviation and flew airplanes and hot air balloons. We will remember him as a jack of all trades who loved a good party, Jack Daniels, morning coffee and bacon, making buttermilk pancakes, baking fruit cobblers and pies from scratch and many other things he enjoyed in his well lived life. Above all he will be remembered as a great husband, awesome dad and even better grandpa who was loved and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his loving family; his wife Randi Boyd of the family home in Los Ranchos de Albuquerque; daughters, Kendra Wehner and husband Charles F Wehner II and their children Kyle Anderson, Charlie Wehner and Kierstynn Wehner all of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; daughter, Kristin Romer and husband Bert Romer of Kentwood, MI and daughter, Janelle Romer of Enterprise, AL; siblings,  Helen Burnside of Castle Pines, CO and Robert Boyd of Pueblo, CO; as well as other family members and numerous friends that he cherished.

A Celebration of Ken's life will be held on Saturday, May 4th, 2024 at 2pm at the Boyd's property on 723 Ranchitos Rd NW. The family would respectfully ask, for those planning to attend, to please RSVP to Kendra Wehner at 505-239-2485 with a text or phone call, so they may plan accordingly.

In lieu of flowers or cards, the family would respectfully request memorial contributions be made, in Ken's memory, to a favorite charity and for everyone to leave condolences on this website for the family to read together.
