Josie J. Zamora

December 7, 1929 – January 27, 2021

We lost mom suddenly and unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 27, 2021. She was hospitalized that previous Friday morning on the 22nd at Lovelace Downtown Hospital. Mom was diagnosed with COVID pneumonia and ultimately that is what led her to the gates of Heaven. Although it was extremely unexpected and devastating to all of us, we know that she was welcomed by the Lord and we are comforted that she was also greeted by all our loved ones who passed before her.

Family meant everything to mom. She valued being a mother, she treasured being a grandmother, celebrated being a great-grandmother, and was thrilled to become a great great grandmother. Holidays were her favorite because that's when everyone gathered and the house was full. Her home has always been a place where everyone felt loved, welcomed and at home. She treated everyone equally and with respect and made you feel like family.  She enjoyed visits with friends. She treasured talking with them, sharing laughs, and reminiscing about the good 'ole days. She loved baking, she loved her Saturday morning (89.1) Spanish music, she loved to dance, she loved her many animals, she loved shopping as often as she could go, and she loved getting all dolled up…hair, make-up, jewelry, and heels were an everyday thing for her, even if no occasion.

Mom is preceded in death by both her parents Emma & Perfecto Perea, her two babies Rey Robert & Deborah, her two husbands Rey Martinez & Tony Zamora, her two siblings Jenny & Felix, and her two daughters Kathy & JoAnne.  She is survived by her 8 children Jerry, Fred, Ken, Jeannie, Marie, Joseph, Bertha and Robert, and nephew Archie, and two sons-in-law Joe and John.

She leaves behind many cousins, nieces and nephews, 21 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren, 12 great-great grandchildren, as well as 2 of her life-long friends Theresa and Isabel.

Although she was the heart of our family, a piece of our hearts will always be with her. We'll always remember the love, the laughter, the many shared memories, and even the tears. She gave so much of herself to all of us and will truly be missed dearly. Because of"her" there is "us" and her memory will carry on.  We will ALWAYS love you Mom, Grandma, Auntie & Friend…May you Rest in Peace and Always feel our Love…

Prayer for My Family

Lord Jesus, I ask you to protect and watch over my family, so that in the strength of your grace, we may enjoy prosperity, possess the priceless gift of your peace and bear witness in this world to your glory.

St. Jude,

Please shine your light upon my family. Give us strength to overcome all of the difficulties that we are dealing with now and protect us against any and all problems we may encounter in the future.

A Rosary will be recited on Friday, February 12, 2021 at St. Anne's Catholic Church, 1400 Arenal Rd. SW, at 8:30 a.m.  with Mass to follow at 9:00 a.m. She will be laid to rest following services at San Jose de Armijo Cemetery, 2957 Arenal Rd. SW
