Josephine Marie Guerrero "Joie"
February 3, 1939 – March 11, 2024
We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our dear Joie who sadly passed away due to organ failure on Monday, March 11, 2024 in Albuquerque, New Mexico at the age of 85. She was born in Trinidad, CO on February 3, 1939, to her loving parents, William James Humphries and Clara (Nucci) Humphries.
Joie is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, William (Bill); many loved aunts and uncles and the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Lee Guerrero whom she married on May 26, 1962. Bob unfortunately passed in January 1970 from pneumonia while hospitalized with injuries sustained from a car/train accident.
Bob and Joie had two sons, Robert Jr. (Bobby) and Gary which Joie loved and provided for as a single mom. She has daughters-in-law, Karen and Sandy; grandchildren, Tracy, Chris, Patrick, Shonna, Adam, and Cody; great grandchildren Ezra, Elijah, Demitrius, Alex, Dominic, Jaidence, Colbi and Paxton. Joie was raised with close cousins that she often referred to as siblings, Richard, JoAnn, Terri and Denise.
On July 1, 1999, Joie retired from her career at Albuquerque Public Schools. She also worked at Sam's club providing samples to the patrons and was a pet/home sitter. Joie was a devout Catholic, completed Albuquerque Beauty College in 1965, was a member of the National Piano Playing Auditions and has active status with Beta Sigma Phi International. She loved all the friends and gatherings with the "Red Hats" club and was a proud member of her Sorority group. Joie enjoyed all crafts and found much joy in her most recent endeavor with painting.
Joie was so much fun to be around, always smiling. She was an independent, loving, and most generous person. She had so many friends and family that will truly miss her. We will forever carry our fondest memories of her in our heart.
