Josephine
Dunkin
Jun 1, 1931 — Dec 6, 2020
Albuquerque
On Sunday, December 6th, 2020, Josephine Jones Dunkin went home to be with the Lord. Josephine or "Jo" was preceded in death by her husband and love of her life Aulty "Mutt", as well as, their two sons Sam and Gary.
Jo was born in a lumber camp in Alikchi, Oklahoma, on June 1, 1931 to parents Sam and Addie Jones. She was one of seven children (Sam, Tinie, Sylvester, Owen, Lucy and Zula) and was the last to pass of her siblings. Known for her grit and sacrifice, Jo was the backbone of her family.
Jo and Mutt met in Flagstaff, Arizona when Jo moved from Oklahoma to live with her sister, Zula after she graduated from high school. Jo took a job as a late night shift waitress at the local hangout diner. Mutt came to the diner with friends and instantly fell in love with the spunky Jo, asking her out on a date. Shortly thereafter, they wed and had their two sons. Mutt worked as a lumberjack, later moving to Albuquerque to work in the sawmill. Jo was the staple of the home. She was a beloved mother, wife, and grandmother to Gary's children: Zachary, Dustin and Nicole. Jo was also a great grandmother to Cora (Zachary's daughter), Sierra, Nando and Devon (Dustin's children) and Bowie (Nicole's daughter). Jo taught her family to take care of each other, putting family first over everything. We know she is rejoicing by being with her family and friends in Heaven. We are eternally grateful she blessed us with her love, support and laughter and know she's still looking after us.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private family graveside service was held.
