Obituary

Joseph Eliseo Valencia "Bosco" a lifelong resident of Bernalillo and also of Los Lunas, New Mexico was born on January 28, 1951 in Bernalillo, New Mexico. Our family is sad to announce his passing away surrounded by family on Friday, April 24th, 2026 from a battle with Cancer.

Joseph was a loving Dad, Grandpa and Brother who always prayed for his family. He couldn't see or be with them always as he had a very large family who lived in different places but he spoke about his sons, Gloria and the grandkids often and was very proud of all of them and loved them with his whole heart, all the way up to his last day.

Joseph shared a bond of music with his sons, brothers, sisters, nephews and nieces. Holidays were a very special and unforgettable time for the family. Everyone looked forward to being together.

Joseph will be remembered for being the most incredible singer and guitar player. He also followed his nephew DJ Alan to his gigs to join in on karaoke fun. He loved to sing, "Forever and Ever Amen", by Randy Travis and also would go around singing "Sitting on the Dock of the Bay" and of course all the traditional Spanish family songs which will forever be in all the family's hearts.

Joseph also loved playing golf and hanging out with friends; but one stands out to be his best friend, Mariano, who he often mentioned also because he had the same name as his own dad.

Joseph was close to all family but Pennie, Noela, and Donna put in extra care to help take him to doctor appointments or take him get groceries and just being there at the hospital, keeping him company and showing love and support.

Joseph had 2 special aunties, Reina Miera (Lovato) and Betty Salas (Valencia )who will miss him dearly and who our family is also privileged to have. They also complete 5 generations on each side of family (Valencia and Lovato).

Joseph was preceded in death by his son, Gabriel Valencia; his parents, Mariano and Josie Valencia; sisters, Carla Valencia and Bebbetts Valencia and by his brothers, Archie Valencia and Mario Valencia. He is survived by the mother of his children, Gloria Chavez (Valencia) and sons, Joseph Patrick Valencia, Jerry Valencia and fiancé Genna, and his special daughter-in-law, Median Castillo and her fiancé Gabe; Godson, Manuel Baldonado; brother, Michael Valencia and wife Gloria; sisters, Joanna Matthews and Tommie Leyba; sisters in law, Georgina Valencia and Tina Valencia and Pam Miera; 14 grandchildren, Britney and husband Jared, Patrick, Eric, Michael, Christian, Andrés, Kendra, Alyssa (Alex) Gabriella, Gabriel Junior, Mateo, Zyriah and Zadrian; 5 great grandchildren, Blaine, Annie, Arless, Arya Mei and Cassius as well as many other family members and friends who loved and will miss him greatly.
