Jose Teodora Martinez, 84, passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, March 23, 2024.  He was born January 11, 1940 to Juan and Dolce Martinez in Amalia, New Mexico.

Jose graduated from Amalia High School in 1958 and Honorably served his country in the United States Air Force until October of 1969.  He married Christabel in 1964 while he was stationed in England.  They had four sons, Philip, Steven, David and Robert.

Jose went on to serve as a firefighter for the City of Albuquerque until his retirement in 1991.  He continued serving in the Albuquerque Fire Department Retirees Association (AFDRA) and the Honor Guard, receiving numerous awards for his service.

In June of 2006, Joe married Helen and they created a beautiful life together, for 18 years.  They enjoyed traveling, camping and working together on their home.  Joe was an accomplished carpenter, building furniture, plaques and display cabinets for the retired firefighters.  He was always ready to lend a hand to his family and friends.

Joe is survived by his wife, Helen; stepdaughter, Donna; stepson, Rick; step granddaughters, Breanna and Diondra; his sons, Philip, Steven, David and Robert; grandchildren, Danielle, Jonathan and Kristina Martinez and three great grandchildren. As well, Joe is survived by his brothers, Manuel, Eloy and Ronny; sisters, Claudina, Maria, Porfiria, Christine and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends who loved and will miss him

The family would like to send a special thank you the Nevaeh Hospice providers, his healthcare providers, Doreen Sedillo and Aleena Brewer for their support throughout Joe's illness.

A Rosary Service will be held on Monday, May 20th, 2024 at 11:30am at St. Jude Thaddeus Church, 5712 Paradise Blvd in Albuquerque. The gravesite service will then take place at the Santa Fe Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM, at 2:30 pm with honors.
