09/27/1948 – 01/08/2023

Jose "Jody" Ismael Aragon, age 74, of Bernalillo, New Mexico was born September 27, 1948 and passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2023. He was surrounded by his loved ones as he climbed the stairs to heaven. He was the son of Evaristo and  Erlinda Aragon.

Jose is survived by his wife of 43 years, his Magnolia Blossom, Diana Aragon; his three children, Erlinda Beavers and husband Cody, Angela Aragon and significant other Charles and Joseph Aragon and wife Meghan; four grandchildren, Nicholas, Matthew, Cooper and Aaron. He is also survived by his siblings, Rose Diaz (Willie), Orlando Aragon (Rose), Bernardo Aragon (Lucy), Ramon Aragon (Goretti), Manuel Aragon (Maryann); his mother in law, Margaret Herrera and numerous nieces and nephews. Jose is preceded in death by his father and mother, Evaristo and Erlinda Aragon; his brother, Rojerio Aragon; sister, Selma Aragon; brother, Felipe Aragon and brother, Enrique Aragon.

Jose was a United States Army Veteran and proudly served from October 1969 to December 1970 when he was honorably discharged. After he served in the Vietnam War, he returned to his hometown of Bernalillo, New Mexico. He then began his career with the Bernalillo Public Schools, to which he devoted the next seventeen years. He also briefly worked for Sandia Casino and Allstate Builders. To enjoy his retirement, he began building miniature replicas of New Mexico Catholic Churches, birdhouses, and nativity scenes. He loved to "set up shop" in the Range/Supermarket parking lot on the weekends. He loved watching his Dallas Cowboys, New York Yankees, Boston Celtics and WWE Wrestling. You could always find him listening to his favorite New Mexico Spanish Artist, Little Joe y La Familia.

The family would like to thank all family and friends for the countless and continuous prayers, outpouring support and the love you have shown over the past year and four months. We appreciate you all more than you could possibly imagine. He was known and loved by so many. Our husband, father, grandfather is now at peace and resting pain free. "Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines upon us to let us know they are happy." -Eskimo Proverb
