Obituary

Jose Francisco "Frank" Lucero, 91, of Bernalillo, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 4, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Frank was born on June 30, 1934, in Bernalillo to Leonardo and Julia Lucero. He proudly served in the United States Air Force before returning home, where he built a life deeply rooted in family, faith, and hard work. He owned and operated a barber shop for many years and later worked as a maintenance supervisor for nursing homes.

In 1956, Frank married the love of his life, Martha "Carrie" Lucero. Together, they shared 69 years of marriage, creating a strong and faithful partnership that became the foundation of their family. His greatest joy was found in the home they built together, raising children, welcoming grandchildren, and later celebrating great- and even great-great-grandchildren.

Frank is survived by his beloved wife, Carrie, and his children Sylvia Sisneros (Ronnie), Joseph Lucero, and Sarah Hamelin. He was preceded in death by his son Leonard Lucero. He was the proud grandfather of Shanna Alumbaugh (Beau), Nathaniel Sisneros, Elisha Swier (Ross), Dominic Lucero, Joey Lucero (Sarah), Mia Cavaricci, Angelica Telles (David), Andres Lucero, Tamara Gros, and Savannah Hamelin. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren Madison and Hunter Alumbaugh; Trinity Santistevan, Gabriel Sisneros, Rylee, Grace and Eli Swier; Angelina and Jacob Lucero; Skylar and Maisey Lucero; Matthew Curiel; Hezekiah and Benjamin Telles; and Ella Bleu Jimenez; along with two great-great-grandchildren Koa and Karaya Haynes.

He was preceded in death by his parents Leonardo and Julia Lucero; siblings Reynaldo, Richard and Carlos Lucero; Bernie Garcia; and Mary Duran. He is survived by siblings Alonzo Lucero, Josie Leyva, and Beatrice Hernandez.

Frank was a man of quiet strength, faithful to God and his family, and steadfast in all he did. He enjoyed tending to his yard and often reminded loved ones, "When you are anxious, go pull weeds." He leaves behind a legacy of devotion to his wife and family, who will remember him as a man of honor and integrity.

"Well done, good and faithful servant!" Matthew 25:21
