Jose (Joe) Ascension Aragon was born on May 2, 1951, in Cuba, New Mexico and passed away on May 6, 2025, at the age of 74. He was a resident of Cuba, Albuquerque, Los Lunas and most recently Socorro.
Joe graduated from Valley High School in 1969. He was a hard worker and worked a multitude of jobs throughout his life; he had many skills and talents. Joe was kind, compassionate, generous, thoughtful, and loving. Joe made everyone feel unconditionally loved and accepted.
Joe loved the Lord and would strike up conversations with anyone anywhere to share stories, his testimony, and most of the time "unsolicited" wisdom which his children will miss dearly. Joe was a people person and never met a stranger. Joe enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outdoors and watching old western movies.
Joe had a heart of service and he always made sure to take good care of his family, especially Greta, his "Honita." He found his greatest joy by spending time with his spouse, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Joe is survived by his wife of 11 years, Greta Aragon; siblings, Tita Maestas, Dolores Gertrude McCoy, Millie Borrego, Filiberto Aragon, Julian Aragon, Bernadette Aragon-Fuentes and Matthew Aragon; children, Candice Martinez (Paul), Victoria Lucero, Dominic Aragon (Sabrina), Noah Aragon (Sharon), Moriah Garcia (Dean Chenoweth), Devon Aragon (Jose Gonzalez), Selena Aragon (Scott Becker); grandchildren, Alissa, Pablo, Jade (Dyllian), Roman (Gabrielle), Miranda (Anthony), Selena (Jeremy), Andrew, Travis (Aracely), Kekoa, Sabrina (Jacob), Rhiannon, Andres, Dominic, Emilio, Esaias, Elijah, Kenneth, Dante, Sasha, Elianna, Analeyah, Lillyana, Jo'seliyah, Aylah, Mia, Jeremiah, Noah, Olivia; great-grandchildren, Stevie, Josiah, Ethan, Michael, Aubri, AJ, Xiomara, Addy, Jeremiah, Anita, Audria, Emily, Isabelle; mother-in-law, Alice Garcia and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Filiberto and Isabel Aragon; father-in-law Louriano Garcia; brother Alvin Aragon; son Josiah Aragon; and grandchildren Isabelle Aragon, Ezra Aragon and Donovan Cylis Chenoweth.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Legacy Church East Campus located at 4701 Wyoming Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109.
