John
Moya
Nov 18, 1940 — Mar 27, 2025
Albuquerque
John Moya was born November 18, 1940 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 27, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
He was raised in the Martinez town neighborhood, attended Lincoln Middle School and graduated from Albuquerque High School. John worked for Texas International Airlines, where he retired in 1998 with over 30 years of dedicated service. Not only was he a wonderful and conscientious employee, he was also a true mentor to the younger generations.
John will be remembered for his kindness, his giving heart and for always taking care of family members and friends and, at times, even those who were ill. He was blessed with these genuine abilities.
Those who new John will clearly know how serious he was about his sports and how he enjoyed getting his family involved in those sports too, even if they were not always as serious about the sport as he thought they should be. He also loved to play softball and ride his bicycle. Especially he enjoyed music and played the trumpet and bongo drums.
Above all, the many family members, co-workers and friends will always have treasured memories of how John was always trying to guide, encourage and support everyone in their own way.
John was preceded in death by the love of his life, Esther Moya who passed away in 1987 and by his beloved grandson Conrad Rotruck.
He is survived by his five loving children, John Moya, David Moya, Sandra Rotruck and husband Mike, Yvonne Dougherty and husband Pat, Christopher Moya and wife Amy, all of Albuquerque; seven grandchildren, Janell, James, Joseph, Jake, Jeremy, Ashlyn and Devyn; six great grandchildren, Rosalie, Daniel, Darius, Elijah, Damian and Asher; many nieces, nephews, cousins, as well as other family members who loved and will miss him greatly.
A visitation will be held in the Chapel of Direct Funeral Services, 2919 4th St. NW. on Thursday, April 10, 2025 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
Funeral Services will be held at Queen of Heaven Parish, 5311 Phoenix Ave. NE. on Friday, April 11, 2025. The Rosary will be recited at 9:30 am. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am, as April 11, would have been John and Esther's 67th wedding anniversary.
