Obituary

John Louis Meyer, age 79, passed away from heart failure on January 27, 2021 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on March 7, 1941 the third child of Frank and Francis (Valentine) Meyer. He grew up in Milwaukee and attended Bay View High School; Class of 59.

John joined the US Army in September 1959 and was a Specialist (E4). He was stationed at Fort Ord, California and was honorably discharged. He returned to Milwaukee and began working for the Wisconsin Telephone Company and continued to work for the Bell System until his retirement.

On May 19, 1962 John married his high school sweetheart Kathleen Nemeth, and together had four daughters. John and Kathy moved to Racine, Wisconsin in 1971 and in January of 1981 the family moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico. John and Kathy parted ways but continued a beautiful friendship that lasted up until the day he passed. John married his second wife Sandy Graham in 1986 and remained married until she passed in 2008.

John was a devout Christian who read his bible daily. He found peace with the daily scriptures. He traveled to India to work at an Orphanage, visited nursing homes to read scriptures to the elderly, did bible studies at the local prison, and also volunteered with Samaritan's Purse. He was very generous and donated to many charities. His favorite bible verse was John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."

John is preceded in death by his beloved second wife Sandy; his parents Frank and Francis Meyer; brother Melvin Meyer; sister Delores Beaudry; and brother-in-law Al Beaudry.

John is survived by his first wife Kathy; daughters: Debbie Meyer, Cyndi Griego (Danny), Chris Fraley (Joe), Julie Lucci (Brian); sister Mary Jean Jochims (Herbert); sister-in-law Gayle Meyer; 17 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

John will be dearly missed by his family and many friends.

Visitation will be held at Direct Funeral Services in Albuquerque on Friday February 5, from 1:30-2:15 and will be laid to rest at Vista Verde Memorial Park in Rio Rancho, New Mexico at 2:45.
