John D. Bond passed away on Friday, September 29, 2023 at the age of 84. John has joined his father, Arthur L. Bond and his mother, Jean M. Bond in heaven.

John was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque. After graduating from UNM with a Civil Engineering degree John instead decided to join the family business, Bond Paint Co. founded by his father in 1937. John also had a great love for railroads, particularly the Santa Fe Railroad. He collected many Santa Re Railroad artifacts until 1995 when he acquired part ownership in a lounge car from the 1937 Super Chief. He and a business partner spent many years restoring the car and then doing private charters once complete. It is currently in Santa Fe with the Santa Fe Sky Train operating under new owners. John's great love for trains, his paint company and animals will be missed.

He is survived by his brother, Col. U.S. Army [Ret.] James A. Bond and wife Marilyn of Florida as well as other family members and dear friends that loved and will miss him greatly.

A memorial service will be held at St. Marks Episcopal Church, 431 Richmond NE, Albuquerque, on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at 3:00 pm.  John loved all animals and if you desire you may make a donation to any

animal rescue of your choice.
