Obituary

James Hugh Smith was born Jim was born to Marby Mickey and John Paul Smith, June 16, 1934 in Lockney, Texas and grew up in the Pie Town/Socorro area.  He passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2020 at his residence in Albuquerque.

Jim honorably served his country in the US Air Force for seven years and in the US Army for eleven years.

He will be remembered for his love of hunting, shooting and reading. As well Jim was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church, where he faithfully served and was a trustee.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Mabry and John Paul Smith; by his son, Stuart Brian; siblings, Jake Smith, Charlie Sage, Henry Sage, John R. Smith, Rita Smith.

He is survived by his wife Patricia Carol Smith, whom he married January 1, 1966. Jim is also survived by his daughter, Carol Elizabeth and husband Mike; siblings, Carl Sage, Jake Carl and Nancy Lambert; six grandchildren; as well as other family members and friends who loved and will miss him.

A Memorial Service will be held at Lighthouse Baptist Church, 4001 12th ST. NW., on Saturday January 23, 2021 at 12:00 noon with US Air Force Honors. Pastor Rick Legg will officiate

Jim will be privately interred at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at a later date.
